June 22nd Policy Orders

June 22nd Policy Orders

There are two policy orders relating to transparency and policing on the agenda for Monday's (6/22) Council Meeting. Please consider writing the Council (council@cambridgema.gov) to express, in your own words, support for these orders. Copy clerk@cambridgema.gov to have your comments included in the meeting record.

PO #1 would require all collective bargaining agreements with the City to be made publicly available on the City's web site, cambridgema.gov, including the police union contract.

PO #9 would require the City Manager to compile and provide to the City Council an itemized list of all materials, tools, and property owned by the Cambridge Police Department.

The conversation around policing in Cambridge cannot move forward unless both the City Council and the general public have easy access to detailed information concerning the Police Department's current privileges, obligations, capabilities, and equipment. Let the Council know you want to enable better oversight of policing in Cambridge!
